I recently saw this and thought it was very well said. I hope you all feel the same. I am not posting it as a religious poem, I am simply giving recognition to the men and women that have given their lives to protect our country.


The Final Sacrifice

Yes, two more soldiers died - it is very sad.
They were someone's brother, husband, son or dad.
Each and every one who has died for this nation
is mourned as a special one of God's creation.

But it has been true down through the ages.
When freedom has been threatened in history's pages,
our men have had to take a stand
whether here or in a foreign land.

If there were no evil in all the world,
those men who ride with Satan's flag unfurled,
then all could live in happiness and peace
and the fighting of wars could instantly cease.

Yes, we all pray for that and ask God to make it so
but there is one thing I surely know -
thank you for those willing to pay the price
especially those who make the final sacrifice.

Take their souls home to be with you,
protect those left behind with work to do.
We pray for peace and evil's end
for only You our wounds can mend.
