Scamp,
My Dad was one of those WWII Vets that was one of the few to survive the sinking of his ship and went about getting on with life, survivor's guilt and all quite silently. He passed away on Sept 3, 2005. He was there to welcome your Dad back home you can count on it. Doc Urb

So sorry to hear about your father. My father in law is a WWII vet and he is like my best friend. He is 87 and getting feeble fast. They don't make guys like them anymore. These guys saved the world from an new Dark Age with their courage and devotion. There are not enough thank yous in the world to give to them.

Scamp - that sure is tough - I like many others here have lost our Dad's and its really a hard pill to swallow. You have my sincere regrets in your Dad's passing. Life move's on and each time it strikes it teaches us we are all here for such a short time and to make the best of it. May your Dad Rest In Peace - he has a fine Son to carry on for him. God Speed

Thanks all, I really appreciate your support. His grandsons helped him the last bit of the way. Grandsons Patrick and David, now just back from Iraq, led the way.

Looked to be a good send-off for the 1st ID sergeant, Bill. You can always tell the caliber of a man by the turnout of people at his funeral. He looks to have been a good one. I hope it brought a bit of peace to you and your family.

My sincere condolences, Scamp...
I'll tell my Dad to come around and shake his hand up there, in the WW II Army barracks. Hand salute! Sir Blue |
