Doolittle's Raiders
The surviving members of Doolittle's Raid on Tokyo are holding their 61st Reunion here at Travis Air Force Base. Today was the start of 5 days worth of activities honoring these daring men who flew B-25s off the deck of the USS Hornet on April 18, 1942. As part of the festivities, there was a flyover this afternoon of a B-25. That was one BIG aircraft.

WOW! that would have been something to see, Kewl I always thought it quite a feat launching a B-25 off a carrier...

Jerry D...
Hell,...and even though far from a pilot, I gotsta believe that with such a short runway and without catapult, even flying a Piper Cub or Cessna off of such would be a major accomplishment.

Just a bit of trivia for anyone willing to take a chance...
Where did Doolittle's Raiders "practice" and "perfect" their carrier takeoffs? The Old Sarge

I'm going to share this info. with my son. He has decided to become a pilot. He'll be working on his private pilot license this year.
