Default 9-11 Quilt

The 9-11 quilt came to our community last week. It didn't get much publicity with all of the Katrina stuff flying around here. I went in expecting maybe a quilt laid out on a table or two. I was stunned to see it take up the entire gymnasium and the upstairs walkway too. They said that they left a lot of it at home because it wouldn't all fit in the gym. They had racks where it could be hung up in 8-foot squares they called panels. There were well over one hundred panels. Some squares only had a name on it. Others had pictures of their children and families. Some told something of their life. All were people with a life.
