Default David

You can post a reminder that local Legion posts will properly retire old flags. People only have to drop them off and we will take care of the rest. We hold our ceremony every year on June 14, Flag Day.

Unhappy It is really sad!

That the supreme court in affect did away with any official (laws) regarding the use of the flag citing the 1st Amendment. But, maybe it is okay, because only we that really care will abide by the rules of etiquette and do it out of true honor and respect.

Default I think

that most people just don't know flag etiquette. They want to do the right thing but don't know what to do. Thats where the Vets Orgs come in. In the weeks following 9-11 we had many many requests for not only flags for display, but also requests on how to properly display and retire them.

Our honor guard just did a parade last Sat. and I saw most of the people stand with their hats or hands over their hearts when we passed by. A year ago there would have been fewer standing.
