I have the Aussie equivalent of the DAV as a favorite. It sounds all too familiar:

The Dept Of Veterans Affairs will fight you all the way... except of course... If you win your case, then they cannot do enough for you

UNLICENSED private eyes hired by the Federal Government to check out war service claims have been accused of hounding elderly war veterans who risked their lives for the country. It is understood at least one Vietnam veteran has committed suicide as a result of alleged harassment from war researchers contracted by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans are particularly damning of the way a NSW-based company called Writeway Research Services conducts its business, with complaints ranging from harassing phone calls to "biased" or fabricated reporting. Writeway is also being investigated by the Queensland Office of Fair Trading for operating in Queensland without a necessary private investigator's licence. The company has denied any wrongdoing and insists it follows the department's research protocol.

WRITEWAYS, who is run by a panel of very senior military officers, combining of all services but dominated by Army. It is owned by a guy called MULCARE (who has a brain like a damp squib) who quite often refutes any claim and by firing broadsides into the veterans claim with lies and UNRESEARCHED info

The DVA have uses Writeways to research for most if not all claims and their reports always says the incident never happened?

But everything is on RECORD right!
and or is just missing conviently for them

SOUNDS ALL TOO FAMILAR

Hers an small clip of an article from the USA I found on your herbicides that were used

Most recently, the DVA managed to get the IOM to delete all references to the Royal Australian Navy's peer-reviewed report showing ships flash-distillers actually concentrated the TCDD contaminate in sea water, which was made even more toxic by picking up ions from steam heated copper tubing.

• Since the beginning of the Bush administration, the DVA has attempted to destroy the medical data accumulated by the Institute of Medicine, the federal agency mandated by the Agent Orange Act of 1991 to track and evaluate veterans illnesses caused by Agent Orange. Their claim; the cost of maintaining those records and data was prohibitive.
• Also during this administration the DVA has sought to de-fund the Institute of Medicine's ongoing Vietnam Veterans Agent Orange study. The IOM keeps finding more evidence and diseases caused by Agent Orange.

Last but not least... I think your DVA etc and ours are as cunning as a shithouse rat... they all give us a bit of curry

I hope all of the above is good oil... I'm off now like a bride's nighty

How many of you can relate to this

VIET NAM

He sits all by himself with a bottle by his side.
Pushing away the woman that he courted to be his bride
He thinks about his mates and when he was a young man
Why did they send them there, to this place called Viet Nam?

Why did they send me to a foreign land?
Why did they want me to go, I couldn’t understand?
To go and fight an allied war I suppose, I could lend a hand
Jesus Christ what have they done?
They sent me to Viet Nam

They drafted them like sheep to a war they could not win
To the other side of the world for some it was the end
He watched his mates lay dying, spread all across the land
Why did they send me there?
This hell called Viet Nam

The bottle is the only way; he escapes from what is real
To hide away from all the pain that constantly he feels
The torture and the torment that dwells within this man
Why did they send him there?
This place called Viet Nam

He sits up straight in bed at night and looks around the room
Wondering if he’s back at the place he was in June
It’s been thirty plus years since that war put shivers through this man
But every night he goes to bed
He dreams of Viet Nam

His family all around him, they really don’t understand
What has happen to there boy over there in Viet Nam?
Unless you’ve seen it for yourself, you don’t really understand
What happen to the men?
In that hell called Viet Nam

Default That Poem

Fits most of the guys on this site. Horrible to know the Aussie's have gone through the same stuff as us......great to know we are not alone nor the only "psyco's" from that war.

Thanks DD..

Default So did I....

I also volunteered, enlisted Airborne Unassigned. Knew that would get me to Vietnam and a great chance for Parachute Infantry. The poem doesn't do us all 100%....but the thoughts are the same.

Boy John are you picky!
