Default Purple Heart story

So my family was talking about if my grandparents were to die soon...they are both in their late 80s...and I mentioned how I really want my uncle's Purple Heart and his other war things that I have never seen because they are locked in a chest. My older sister is 20 years old and she said, "You can have them 'cause you're the only one who cares...like seriously." My heart fell to the floor, this beautiful man died for us and "no one cares" it hurts so much. I just had to tell you guys this cause writing in a place where I feel at home makes me feel much more comforted. And I feel as if I can rationalize things much better. But I also had 5 1/2 hours of volleyball practice today so who knows.

I want to personally thank all of you who served, my appreciation and love cannot be described in words, honestly, this is sincere and I can't even begin to explain my emotions. So I will just say thank you, God put you guys on this Earth for a reason, to protect those who are too afraid, who don't have a drive. A soldier is an extraordinary person. So thank you so much.

God Bless
Taylor

Taylor,

While I'm thinking of it, we have a "back-up" website that we can go to if this site ever goes down for any length of time.

You might want to keep this web address handy just in case:

http://patriotfiles.freeforums.org/index.php

At least some of us will usually stay in touch there until this site comes back up.

Steve

Thumbs up

Taylor , I have my great grand fathers stuff from the Civil War because I was the only grandson that loved to sit with my grandfather and listen to him tell stories about his father and show me his stuff. When my grandfather died there was no doubt who got the stuff from his father. Neither of my grown daughters cares much about the Civil War stuff or my Vietnam stuff but I am hoping one of my grandbabies will step up someday and ask me about my great grand Dad or about Vietnam. God is usually pretty good about making sure this happens , I know your uncle is smiling now knowing how you honor him and want to treasure his stuff. Thank you !

Taylor-

Thank you so much for keeping the faith and being one who dares to care. It can hurt to care and so many prefer to avoid that. You are indeed a trooper.

Default Feeling at Home

First, I too want to thank you Taylor for your patriotism. There are many who once did not care, and as things are revealed to them about the war and family members who have been there and done that --- more care. Your kind of caring is sometimes considered rare.

I recently got my father-in-laws medals for my wife. He served in WWII. She said she got them because she wanted me to have them once they arrived.

I am always comfortable talking and being with those who understand - Veterans. With my brother Vets I can just be me. No excuses for my behavior or who I am. Simply put, they usually understand.

Take care

How did your uncle get the PH? what unit, when, were. Just a name will work.
People that go to the Military and die, do it so people can say "you're the only one who cares", Those that do say that, have no idea what the rest of the world is like and how lucky they are to have people that are willing to lay down their life to let them say that.

Don't mean nothin.

Each one has a history, a family and a life.
