I went to the 1st Cav Assn web site and looked up my battalion's history. There were things that were awarded to my company and battalion that were not on my 214. They were Vietnamese awards so if I wanted them I had to buy them. There was a Vietnamese Unit Citation, Medal of Valor (every one in Vietnam got this) and a Civilian Service Medal for our medcaps.
Some things were awarded after I went home but for the period I was there so they wouldn't be on my 214. I can't help but think that is what happened to a lot of guys awards.
