This is lagniappe to a really nice day. I had a good day at work and then the grandkids were here waiting for me to get home. They met me at the door singing "Happy Birthday," then they fell into their version of "I wish I was back in Texas" as sang by Sandy Squirrell on Sponge Bob Square Pants. Next was the presents. Kids can't wait very long when it comes to presents. I told them that it was much too heavy for me and they better help me open it. Those two little buzz-saws had wrapping paper flying from one end of the room to the other. I almost needed my safety glasses. The 2 year-old says, "Look Pappoo, a bideo." It was the 6-dvd set of "Band of Brothers." I had to read the name to them and explain to them that all of the Army men in the picture were brothers. The 2 year-old held it up to grandma and says, "Mammoo, band of bubbas." Mammoo had a good supper ready by then and the son-inlaw paid the 4 year-old boy a quarter to eat a green bean. That show was well worth a quarter. You never saw so much gagging and convulsing. Mammoo also had a cake that looked like a giant oreo with mint cream filling. The 2 year-old girl decided that she needed some of that icing, so she reached out with her little hand and cut a swath across it. She never has trouble getting what she wants. Hmmm......That could spell trouble in a few years. The 4 year-old boy had been asking me how a phone works, so we moved out to the back yard where we took the empty green bean cans and made a string-tin can telephone. We hollered at each other through the string for a long time until they finally had to go home. Beau said that daughters are for the healing of the fathers. I think that grandkids fit the bill too.
