Got one too
I still have one purchased in Vietnam. However mine has a drawing of a lady on it which some might find offensive. It's kept with other old Nam junk.
Bic lighters are now being made with the old Zig-Zag logo on them. For an ex-cop I thought they were sort of cute, that's what I'm using. Stay healthy, Andy |

Zippo
I got one that started in my unit in 68. Like Andy's lighter it might be offensive to some people. It was passed down to the Plt Sgt from the leaving Plt Sgt. Since my unit stood down I "inherited" it and have it in my zippo collection.

Had two
great Zippo's from Vietnam. One was from the Cav when I left, the other from the Koreans. The Cav one had a Cav patch on one side, the other side had my 8th Cav emblem with C/2. The Koreans gave me one with the MACV emblem on one side, and "You never really lived until you nearly died" 9th KID, 38th Regiment, on the other. Both of these were stolen from me here in the states in two different bars.
I still have a zippo with a friend of mine's coal company logo on it. I don't use it because I'm always "quitting" and to use it again means that I'm not going to stop, even though I havn't stopped. Some sort of mojo I guess, keep thinking if I don't use it I'll defineately quit. Not working.....guess I'll have to crank it up again. Wish I still had my other ones. Packo

I just filled my Zippo why does my leg feel like it's on fire? My Nam Zippo had the zig- zag man on one side and " yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil - for I am the meanist son of a bitch in the valley " on the other side. It was stolen at a party when I got home. Welcome home to all the brothers ... and our Zippos ! Good post

I have/had lots of Zippos.
Currently the one I use is engraved USS Ross and was given to my by our sailor when he returned from the war in Kosovo. He got the guts to his taken when he flew home for Christmas last year. Lots of stories and traditions in those old lighters. |

One of the first...
...lessons I learned from the Green Machine's school of hard knocks was in infantry AIT at Ft Gordon, GA.
Never ford a creek or river with a Zippo in your pants pocket.
