Default Obama Campaign

As a lifelong student of history, there are aspects of the Obama campaign in this election that cause serious discomfort when considered from the perspective of past events, historical trends and recorded outcomes. Some are gut wrenching. That includes such things as:

SECRECY: Among the most troubling aspects of the Obama candidacy is the penchant for hiding the truth. The photo above is a small example. Obama will not release his medical records. Many believe it is because he is and has long been a smoker. His campaign works overtime to hide his tobacco habit. Why? Is there anyone, anywhere who thinks that it will cost enough votes to determine a swing state? Not. What about his academic and admissions records from Columbia and Harvard law or the sources of his massive campaign donations? Why hide such information? More importantly, what does it say relative to behavior as POTUS if one cannot be truthful about such mundane matters as a candidate? His behavior in this regard creates doubt and undermines trust. Hiding the truth is a troubling trait and not what this country needs. There is a Nixon like profile within this wholly unnecessary behavior. What else is he hiding?

EGO DRIVEN ELITIST: Obama has a condescending nature. He scorns those whom he incorrectly thinks cling to religion and guns as beneath his dignity. Our best Presidents are most often those who emerge from the masses, not from the ranks of the elites. To the Obama campaign, Joe the plumber is no more than the neighborhood dufus. They have no respect for everyday Americans. He has no interest in the common man. Even worse, Obama is first and foremost all about himself. He seeks out symbols that promote his personal "greatness" like Greek columns and pre-presidential podium seals. He is not about servant leadership, he is about being admired and adored. His mantra is not nation first, it is about self first. Have you noticed that, at his campaign rallies, crowds are encouraged to chant: O-ba-ma-O-ba-ma-O-ba-ma? In our current circumstances this country does not need such a self-serving politician. We need instead a leader who understands and appreciates the mass of the American people and will seek to support and protect their best interests and the greater good, rather than his own personal or partisan agenda.

OBAMA YOUTH: Did you see the video of the kids, young children, in Southern California singing songs to and about their beloved leader? You had to look fast since it disappeared quickly once it was widely exposed. It was posted with pride but it was not cute. It was creepy. It is more than a little disturbing that Obama enjoys his greatest degree of popularity within the under 25 crowd. The youth of America. The most easily influenced segment of our population. His campaign, the big biased media and educators have focused on influencing young people, with some real success. It is far too reminiscent of past tyrannies that have done that very same thing: that is, rallied and manipulated youth. Every campaign makes a concerted effort to get out the youth vote but none in memory has worked as diligently, both directly and through willing surrogates, to control and direct the behavior of young people to achieve propaganda outcomes. It congers up the Soviets and, in a current context, the Chinese government relative to the recently completed Olympic games. The impression it makes leaves many people uneasy.

HERD MENTALITY: Have you observed the extraordinary efforts to attract and promote huge public crowds to convince the larger national audience of the inevitability of success? We hear now of the formation of a transition team, the inside consideration of candidates for cabinet positions, the endless celebrity and media endorsements, the massive amounts of money raised as an indicator of spreading support, the plan for a special session of Congress and the arrangements for a gigantic public victory celebration. All of it appears to be designed to stampede the herd, to convince voters that the game is over, to subtly pressure people to go with the 'obvious' winner and, in the end, to drive the opposition to surrender before the vote begins. It is not a positive appeal based upon the positions espoused by the candidate or the experience he can bring to the office. It is instead a cosmetic popularity contest based primarily on orchestrated perception, not reality on the ground. While the herd is presented with a picture of such inevitability, the polls indicate a trend in the opposite direction. It is a case of make believe versus hard reality. It is a Hollywood like attempt to manipulate perception and influence people into believing a fiction. Where has there been similar efforts in history? Mostly in places and during times where the outcomes proved to be disastrous. Propaganda is usually not an activity producing positive results.

FRAUD & COMPLICITY: These are some things that normally cause one's stomach to get out of sorts. The emerging stories of massive voter registration fraud are disturbing on every level. The complicity of the Obama campaign, big biased media and partisan election officials in such efforts makes the matter even worse. It is upsetting to think, in advance of an important election, that the ground has been laid to generate bogus and illegal results. It has the smell of a third world, tin horn pseudo-democracy with one side determined to win at any and all costs. Sort of a "ends justifies the means" operation that probably emanates from a fundamental hatred of George W. Bush. Because this has the appearance of undermining our democracy at it's roots, it is disquieting in the extreme to most Americans. The early Obama electoral success in the primaries has the whiff of this factor. He achieved extraordinary success in caucus states, where a campaign could, for all intents and purposes, stuff the ballot box by spending the resources necessary to deliver dedicated partisans to caucus sites and thereby manipulate the vote of each caucus. A real election with a secret ballot is an entirely different matter. Obama did not nearly as well in real primary elections where it was not possible to control the outcome in advance. Well, November is not a caucus and the only way to influence that vote is to pack the voting booth with fraudulent voters. There is a sense that such activity has been underway for some time now. If so, it is not only disgusting, it is dangerous.

TRANSFER OF WEALTH: The proverbial "American way", as understood by most folks on the street, is that our system is filled with opportunity. Our founding documents proclaim that we are all about the "Pursuit of Happiness". Our very purpose is not to make the rich poor but to do the exact opposite: provide the opportunity for the poor to be rich. Liberty and capitalism combine, under our system of governance, to provide such opportunity. Not a perfect system to be sure, but the best yet devised by mankind. Where most Americans draw the line is at the door of government mandating the automatic transfer of wealth from those who earn to those who do not. Excluding, of course, those who cannot earn which is another matter altogether. The Obama candidacy, not openly but most surely, is an advocacy for "spreading the wealth". That is a socialist, not a capitalist, concept. It does not create opportunity, it destroys it. The forced transfer of wealth is the polar opposite of the "American way". It is counter intuitive to what most people in this country believe is right. It is not what most consider the mandate of government to be at any level. It not only lacks historical legitimacy, it lacks popular support.

MESSIANIC APPEAL: This just might be the most disconcerting aspect of the Obama campaign. Vows to, among other feats, "change the world" and lower the level of the oceans tends to leave a lot of people cold. It is not reassuring to have a candidate for president claiming to be able to do things beyond the purview of human beings. These are matters above the pay grade of mere mortals. These and other ongoing messianic aspects of the Obama campaign are disturbing in the extreme. The open adulation of crowds, the deification of the candidate and the fact that followers, during rallies, have simply passed out is anything but a confidence builder. Neither are media photos featuring a halo effect. Messianic figures in history have been the cause of much destruction and mayhem. Such an approach leaves the observer with the feeling that there are some among us who have been overcome with a sort of rapture that eliminates all rational thought. Even if a fully incorrect perception, it makes for some real uneasiness with this candidacy. Elections are about leaders, not saviors.

Why, given the advantages of immense cash reserves, a very unpopular sitting Republican president, a chaotic economy, a fully biased big media, a Svengali like influence as a public speaker and a powerfully unified party base, not to mention an effective campaign, has Democrat Obama not pulled away, far away, in the polls?

Because there are factors about his candidacy, like those listed above, that are disturbing and disquieting to voters. There is as of yet no stampede within the voting herd and the outcome of this election remains up in the air.

The Manifesto of the Silenced Majority

• We believe that Barack Obama is a brilliant orator and a man possessed of more charisma than any politician since JFK.

• But we also believe that his philosophy of "spreading the wealth around" is an ill-disguised form of socialism that undermines everything America holds dear.

• We believe that a "tax cut on 95% of working Americans" when only 63% of Americans pay taxes is nonsensical.

• We believe that the Obama campaign's obfuscated funding for ACORN (originally described as "event planning") undermines the integrity of our elections and calls into question the legality of his tactics.

• We believe that Barack Obama's plan to form a "civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our military is ill-considered at best.

• We believe that the Obama campaign's efforts to intimidate WGN (on two separate occasions) when it interviewed his political foes endangers free speech.

• We believe that Obama's choice of Joe Biden as VP runs counter to his twin aspirations of "hope" and "change".

• We believe that a man who could not otherwise receive a security clearance should not serve as Commander-in-Chief.

• We believe that Obama's 20-year relationship with his pastor, who he once described as his "spiritual adviser", displays a basic affinity for a racist ideology that runs counter to everything his candidacy should stand for.

• We believe that most of Obama's senate experience has been spent running for office; from the time he was sworn in as a U.S. senator to the time he formed a presidential exploratory committee, he logged only 143 days in the senate.

• We believe that Obama does voters a disservice by hiding his chairmanship of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (a $165 million dollar effort to improve Chicago's schools) when he used that service as his central experience in 2000 during his first run for Congress.

• We believe that Obama made a series of very poor choices by serving on boards and sharing an office with Bill Ayers (for three years); Ayers' organization killed three police officers, bombed numerous government facilities and nearly detonated a nail bomb at a Fort Dix Officer's Dance.

• We believe that, no matter Obama's relationship with Bill Ayers, his evasive and ever-morphing answers about their work together smack of a coverup.

• We believe that anyone -- no matter their position on abortion -- who supports killing an infant that survived a botched abortion is on the wrong side of any moral code.

• We believe that Obama's advisers and contributors -- from Tony Rezko to Valerie Jarrett to Allison Davis -- cost taxpayers millions in development fees for failed (and often uninhabitable) apartment complexes.

• We believe that Obama's Illinois state senate experience was insubstantial: it was, by his own description, a "part-time position" and he maintained two offices (one at the state senate and one at his law firm).

• We believe that Obama's state senatorial experience was further diluted by his 129 "present" votes, which, as NPR observes , "There's a saying in Springfield that there's a reason why the present button is yellow... [but] I don't think that Barack Obama was necessarily a coward for voting present on those bills..."

• We also believe that Obama's experience as a community organizer and as a trainer for ACORN are not qualifications for the presidency.

• We believe that the candidate has not been forthcoming with his background and the key influencing forces during his formative years.

We therefore believe that Barack Obama is ill-prepared and ill-suited for the Presidency.
