Why IS there a 'gulf war syndrome?'
Someone, anyone, tell me what was different about the first gulf war, than any previous war the US has taken part in?
And I believe I can tell you, not only the most probable cause of their health harm, but the SOURCE, too

It would seem that GWS is not mental but physical. It's a bunch of physical aiments that do not seem to have a definative etiology.

I think all that stuff comes under the same classifications that were called "shell-shock" in WWI, "combat-fatigue" in WWII and PTSD in latter conflicts.

That's what they used to say
However, the studies have recently identified harm to the brain/nervous system ... per Dr. Robert Haley's research
No, their harm is real. Currently 'the researcher' are looking in the direction of a neurotoxin. If there is shell shock or PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) it is minimal & would have been short-lived I would expect that when the final tally comes in, it will be as sad as what we are now hearing about those of other wars, such as the Korean cold war, for instance Note that there is compensation for the cold war Korean vet now.

From what I understand PTSD and GWS are different things... but then again - everything I know I get from this site!
