Not to de-rail the thread...
so my R&R story. When delivering supplies, ammo, mail, etc. to the field, they announced that they had a "dead man's R&R" in Hawaii. You had to leave on that chopper. The married guys, who went to Hawaii, couldn't get hold of their wives, so all declined. I grabbed my gear and jumped on board. My brothers ship was in Pearl and the way things were going, I didn't expect to ever see him again so I took it. Also knew from Hawaii I could call home. For single guys...Hawaii was a bore back then. Had been there for almost 3 months before Nam...but to see my brother, had to do it. Got a room at the Motel 6 right on Kalakala Blvd across the street from Waikiki. My brother went to his ship and borrowed a huge set of binoculars. The shower's and changing station for that section of the beach had no roof and it was the womens shower. I spent my R&R sitting on the balcony watching girls get undressed, dressed, and taking showers. Great to see my brother, but since I lived, I WISH I'D HAVE GONE TO AUSTRAILIA OR BANKOK!!!!!!!!!

You got me there...
Ron. I guess I meant cars in general. Your Mustang looks great. I still prefer the 70 Boss's, but for a modern ride....lookin' good! Actually, if I had my choice....67' Shelby AC Cobra 427. Fastest production car ever made. My brothers and me tried to talk my dad into buying one.....he was a gearhead, (56 Plymouth Fury, 60' Chrysler 300, 69' Charger R/T 440 Mag) but he said, "I'm not paying $6,000 for a car that doesn't even have roll-up windows. Actually, had he bought one, it would have been a race to see which one of us 3 boys would have killed ourselves first.

I spent my in-country
I & I at CRB, ( cause I was stationed there ) NAF on the years of 1967, 68 and kept sending my money home for a 1968 Chevelle SS , 396 - 375 HP , 4 speed, rally wheels, red ext, white int,, buckets.
Drove it while on leave in 1968 here in Ohio and went back to Nam, and came back the next year and demolished it the first night home. Hit a couple of Metal light post in front a rest area on 75N. The insurance paid me 3,200.00 for it and I paid 3,600.00 for it, so I guess I fared out pretty good, cause Im still here and the car went the scrape yard. Out of country I & I was the Phillipines. enough............. reeb..Doug........... ( I & I ) Intercourse and Intoxication )
