Default Chapter 2, Hillbilly Lite

While many of the other Democrat wannabees were slogging through the snow and slush in Iowa, Wesley Clark, aka Hillbilly Lite, was making daily changes in values, assertions and previously held positions, mostly without notice in the press.

Compare his earlier blather vs. what he said recently about Iraq:
In testimony in September 2002 to the House Armed Services Committee in which he called Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein a clear threat and said action could not be postponed indefinitely. "The use of force must remain a U.S. option under active consideration," said Clark, who also expressed his support for the right of the United States to act pre-emptively and said he believed Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction.

But this week, Clark said he opposed the Iraq war from the beginning, argued that Bush was so preoccupied with Saddam that he let down his guard on homeland security and called for a congressional probe into the war.

Even good ol' regular Joe Lieberman said, "it is no longer credible for Wesley Clark to assert that he has always had only one position on the war: being against it. His own testimony before Congress shows otherwise."

Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said he was present for Clark's testimony. "How can he possibly say now he was always against the war?" Wilson said. "As far as I'm concerned, this whole matter raises some serious questions about Wes Clark's ability to tell the truth." And why, gentle readers, do you suppose that Clark was relieved from command in the first place? As GEN Shelton recently remarked, it was for a lack of honesty and integrity; once a warrior loses those two qualities, he usefulness is marginal, if not completely gone.

In Manchester, N.H., Thursday, Clark told reporters the RNC's attack on him showed his campaign was gaining traction. "It looks like they've finally figured out that I'm George Bush's greatest threat," he said, blaming White House political adviser Karl Rove for the RNC's action. I wonder if it's ever dawned on the general that he might to start taking responsibilities for his own misspeaks, waffles and frazzled flapjacks. Blaming somebody else for your mistakes is the height of egocentrism or immaturity. Real presidential timber here, right!

And somebody may need to give Clark a lesson in infanticide. In an interview last week with the Manchester Union Leader, Clark said he opposed any restriction on abortion, even until the last day of a pregnancy. This is even more extreme than any of the most rabid pro-abortionists.

Now here is where we see Clark quickly slip into the nearest telephone booth, strip down to his electric blue leotards, don his krypton-powered cape and fly off to save America! I can almost hear the chorus sing, "Here he comes, to save the day..!" Not only did he suggest that the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks could have been prevented, he told the Concord Monitor that if he were elected similar attacks would not occur in the future. By golly, I feel safer already, knowing we would have this prima donna predictor, waiting in the wings! If his crystal all is so clear, maybe he'll deign to inform us when we'll capture bin Laden?

Now here comes a pronouncement surely to warm the wallets of lobbyists, like Sen. Tom Daschle's wife, a lobbyist for Boeing et. al.
At a town-hall meeting in Hudson, N.H., Wednesday, Clark defended serving on corporate boards after retiring from the military in 2000 and registering as a lobbyist. "We were trying to make America safe. That's what lobbyists mostly do," Clark said. Now, the REAL reason why he was fired from his job as NATO honcho: he believed that his soldiers, airmen, sailors and other warriors that he commanded were just mere insignificant paycheck suckers, while it was those hard-working lobbyists who did the real work! And are you getting a clearer picture why he was unfit to command NATO any longer, and now unfit for any public office?

With regard to Gen. Clarke, I flash on the movie ?Best Little Whorehouse in Texas? where the chubby politico sings the song about loving the ?side step? and ?now you see me now you don?t?. I know, I know, I?m hopeless but this mind just won?t take a nap or a time out, LOL. It?s alive????????.
