Default Nasa

Yesterday NASA anounsed that the hit a comet with a probe.
Now this should not be that big of deal with the fokes hear at NASA except for one memorable day a few years ago.
I have been in the Space center on NASA road 1 many times and a few when a mission was ongoing. You could not tell when the mission started or ended, the people in the control room did there job and went about the business of space like a kid behind the counter at Burger King. When Yesterday the control room erupted in cheer and congradulations all around, What could make a room full of NASA scientist that do this for a living, stand up and cheer like a supprise party. In my opinion, hears what just happened.
A few years ago NASA anounced to the world that a comet was going to hit earth in the year 2012, Just after that government scientist said, after they reviewed the scientific data the the comet would NOT hit earth and the the comet would have a near miss.
Now sence that day NASA has been working feverishly on a prodget that ended yesterday. At a cost of 350,000,000$ a probe was crashed into a comet at 50,000 Miles per hour, The NASA people cheered like high school girls and proclamed that now they could study a comet?
I beleive the cheering was because they had just saved the world from being hit by that comet and the cheering was with good reason.
Now this is just my opinion, but if you look at the facts?
NASA people don't, I repeat, Don't make unfounded statments to the media, When they said that a metior or comet was going to hit earth, You can bet that they checked the data 100 times and were very sure of its contents, then the US government steps in and says NASA your wrong, and NASA say, AH-ok. Now fast forward until yesterday and we hit a comet that was 270 million miles away,
Just in case they didn't move it far enough, by 2011 I will have a 3 year supply of food and water.

I like the idea that they can find it and hit it. Becasuse some day they will have to do this to save humanity from a planet killer.

Like hitting a bullet with a bullet at super long range. Nice bit of work I?d say and applicable to more mundane sciences like taking out an ICBM. Oops, I didn?t say that, right.
