Thumbs up Camping with Opa

Took my daughters family tent camping this weekend at Lake Lanier at a campsite run by the DNR. Right on the water. My grandson is almost 5 and I took his mother camping at this same campsite when she was 5. Had a great time walking in the woods with him gathering wood, fishing with him ,cooking over the campfire and watching beautiful sunsets over the lake. Looked at the stars at night and could feel the smiles from several guys who never came home from 2nd platoon as well as Andy , Frank , Tiny and others of my family who have gone on. Ain't no one in front of me and some day I'll be home with my family and my brothers smiling down at Johnny camping with his family. Peace brothers.

I agree 5 year olds are pretty cool. A little too high strung and fast on the feet but they are really great to be around at that age. I have a 5-year old grand son whose lightning fast and has wayyyyyyyyyyy toooooooooooooooo much energy. I'd give my left ___ to have about 1/3rd of his energy.

Default Oh, great...

John, did you show them how to find abandoned grills? A must on any camping trip.

Good to see you back Ron.

Man you are dumb!!! the grill wasn't abandoned. The state park went bankrupt and John acquired (ripped off, stole, pilferred, midnight grill sales, five finger discount) the grill.
Thats his story and he's stickin' to it

Wink

The grill on the mountain was given to me by the "Psyco Sisters of the Mountain " for some work I did with their group. To imply it was stolen on this open forum is simply wrong. Will be good to see your trucks in 30 days.

John
The only psyco sister of the mountain I remember was the one I met last Nov.....You remember her, The one who played the guitar...She also knew the difference between Crown Royal and Capt. Morgan. There was something else she was good at but I cant remember right now. Why do ya wanna see our trucks?

Default Camping

LT,

Camping is good. Grandkids are better. But camping with Grandkids must be the best. I reckon you must be about the best Opa I've ever known. The best part is he will remember camping with Opa when he is an Opa camping with his Grandson. Tradition.
