Question Differences

Talked to Tiny this weekend after I found an old picture of he and I together in Bitnam. He still had his legs then. It amazed me we were at the same place the same day and saw and remember totally different how that day went. I remember a track being hit and flippeing over and burning and a day later we found the leg bone of one guy who had been trapped in it. Tiny remembers the track being hit but sweares three guys were trapped and he could hear them screaming - says it still haunts him today. My Squadron Commanders , in Bitnam , son wrote me this weekend and wants me to tell him some stories of serving with his Dad. Probably should not tell him of the time I emptyed a clip of AK on his old man when he flew over one of my tracks that had just hit a hugh mine in a river and killed 4 guys and he called over the platoon freq. to " get that meat out of the water " he flew off and never said a word about it to me. I asked Tiny who some of the people were in the other pic and he said he didn't know cause they were all FNG'S after Lam Son 719 - he was right , after 3 months in the field I probably had 3 of the orginal guys in the platoon I started with. Sorry to ramble. Damn sandstormes - soldiers heart for sure

LT :

Baby steps..keep moving..

your story brings up some good points..we rode around on APCs that made great targets for RPGs..the LAW by contrast just sucked. Why didn't the USA develop something as powerful as the RPG ? Those RPGs were simply splendid mother-fu*kers..saw a lot of tracks fried with 'em..thank God for cyclone fences ( RPG screens )..

Take care LT...the Lord will give you peace,

Larry

Yea Beau it was a shallow stream , maybe two feet deep. Later that same day I found a leech on my leg that was 7 inches long and hugh with my blood. Burned him off with a lucky strike

You Know there was a Lam Son 277.
Your 719 ended with around 19,000 enemy dead. Hats off to ya bro.
At the end of RT 9 there used to be a old tank (french ) was it still there when you made your push to Loas?

After we talked about Lam son, I looked it up in my book Vietnam order Of battle. Like e company said, almost 20,000 NVA died. I wish I could have been with you then. I didn't know too many good officers. take it easy
