Rome?s Burning
?UNITED? is the key word in United States, yet every time that a crisis of sorts hits the Nation, absolute unity seems to fly right out the window, and this in favor of finger pointing! ?Was this not also the flame that once ignited Rome??
?By Passing The Buck or Shuffling Off The Blame In Times of Crisis or Stress?, are we not proving ourselves to be more of a ?Bastion of Vested Political Parties? than a ?Haven for National Unity?? And is ?Party Politics? really a form of checks and balances, or is it more akin to a gaggle of spoiled brats, all blubbering to (eternally) to get their own way? It seems to me that no matter the screw-up or the actual fault, the very first response in politics is ?Damage Control (Passing the Buck, Lying & Agenda Preservation)!? As such, Unity inevitably becomes the first victim of the struggle for absolute power that is trapped within Party Politics. We have become a nation of ?Politics First, Self Second, and Americanism Last!? And in this pursuit, I have watched some of the ?Powers That Be? rewrite our prime mandate - that being ?Unity Of Cause? - the very quality that led to our existence to start with! Even on matters of everyday life and unexpected woe, when pitted up against ?Political Law?, the first response of far too many is to hide behind party politics. ?The whole damned thing is the fault of the other guy?, has become the battle cry of the ethically challenged! ?It use to be where this type of response was reserved for cowards!? Nowadays, however, it has become an acceptable way of doing business, and more?s the shame!! I don?t recall ever seeing a law that mandated one?s political party from birth? Most of us were born bare-assed, bawling, but ?American To The Core!? A few, however, could never seem to outgrow the bawling part, and these individuals were, in my opinion, sired to be bureaucrats! What we were not born to be, however, was Democrats, Republicans, or aligned with any other political critter that attempts to take a front seat to the overall good of this nation or it?s people! As such, I have to wonder where government even finds the time to govern, being so pre-occupied with political backstabbing and absolute power over others? And under a scenario such as this, only one entity truly suffers in the end, that being the nation itself! (opinion) As was brilliantly echoed by one of Our Founding Fathers: ?We must all learn to hang together, or we will most certainly hang separately!? As such, eternal pandering to any Special Interests alone (domestic or imported), be it political or of a monetary nature, is a sickness that could infect the core of unity, and indeed, could even affect survival itself!! As such, our primary concern should (and must) be the common good! No segment of our society should be pulled out, dusted off and used, only at the convenience of political whim. Nor should any element be automatically granted the upper hand over it?s peers by sole virtue of party affiliation! ?We must stand together in war, we must stand together in peace, and most of all, we must stand together in responsibility for our actions, or lack thereof!! VERITAS
