Default Father

I just found out the area of Veitnam that my father served in, Quan Loi. He was with C Btry and HHB 6/27th FA. I know they were a 8"/175 unit, but I was wondering if anyone could give me more info on the unit...battles,locations,etc... I have been to the web site for 6/27 FA and it is all the same old crap as most web sites.

Point of interest, I did not know at the time. I was assigned to B Btry and HHS/S-3 from Aug 93 to Jan 96 at Ft. Sill. Dad never let on, sure it stirred memories for him though.

I was at Quon Loi in 68-69. Quon Loi was in III Corps in the lower part of the country which included Saigon. Quon Loi was first occupied by the 1st Infantry Division and then later by the 1st Cav. I remember quite well the 8" and 155mms. They fired every night in a regular pattern of H&I into Cambodia and in our section of Vietnam. Their shells sounded like freight trains going overhead. And when they got a fire mission it was most impressive. Tell me when he was there and perhaps I can tell you some things or at least tell you where to find out some things.

He was in country from Nov 67 to Dec 68. I am a bonafide war baby being born in Aug 69. Named Travis after Travis AFB. Kind of funny and sad at the same time.?.
