Default Coast Guard member to receive award for off-duty actions in Hamilton Township, N.J.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. − the Hamilton Township Police Department is scheduled to recognize a Coast Guard member at 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Township Police Department court room Thursday.

Seaman Brandy M. Robnett, while off duty driving with her family, witnessed a single vehicle rollover leaving the sole occupant trapped inside the overturned vehicle in a drainage ditch filled with water, Sept. 2, 2009. Robnett flagged down a police officer, climbed down an embankment, climbed on top of the overturned vehicle, reached into the window and lifted the injured woman's head out of the water so she would not drown until relieved by emergency medical personnel.

Robnett will be receiving an award from the township.

Media interested in attending the ceremony can gain public access to the Hamilton Township Police Department courtroom at 6101 Thirteenth St. Mays Landing, N.J.
