Police Find Cache Of Weapons In N.J. Motel Room

A Virginia man facing numerous weapons charges is due in court in New Jersey on Tuesday.

43-year-old Lloyd Woodson of Weston, Va., was arrested Monday after reports that he was acting suspiciously in a convenience store before dawn in Branchburg.

Prosecutors say he was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a semiautomatic rifle under his military-style jacket.

They say they found a cache of weapons in his motel room, including rifles, a grenade launcher and a night vision scope. They say he also had maps of a U.S. military facility and a town outside New Jersey.

Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest said Branchburg police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a convenience store at 3:55 a.m. Monday.

The caller stated that Woodson was acting suspiciously.

Woodson ran out of the store when the patrolmen responded to the scene. Woodson allegedly fled on foot towards a trailer park where he was later picked up.
