Default Col. Gilbert Christian Russell Sr., 3rd US Inf.

Seek information on 1815 Mobile, 3rd U.S. Infantry, Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr., for whom Russell Co., Alabama, is named. He was buried Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, 1861. He executed the six Tenn. militiamen for Gen. Jackson. I descend his daughter, Ann Maria Russell who wed Capt. Edward Malone, Sr., CSA. Seek more information on Col. Russell's role in the War of 1812. He seems not to have been with the 3rd U.S. Infantry at the Battle of New Orleans. Jim Miller, Southport, N.C.
