By now you've likely heard of the “Mother Of All Bombs,” the largest non-nuclear weapon in the American military arsenal, which was dropped on an ISIS stronghold in Afghanistan.

The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast, or just simple, “MOAB,” weighs in at around 21,600 pounds and nearly filled to the brim with high explosives, capable of generating a massive explosion.

It was developed in 2003 and never used in combat until this year.

But of course, the United States' nemesis and former Cold War enemy could not be outdone by the MOAB. So in 2007, Russia unveiled their own insanely powerful non-nuclear bomb, cheekily named the “Father Of All Bombs.”

While details are slim due to spooky Russian military secrets, their military claims that the FOAB is a thermobaric weapon, meaning it uses the air around the detonation to create an even larger explosion. It essentially “vaporizes” any enemy in the blast radius, CNN reported.

(Video on site only)

The official video shows the massive bomb, with a parachute, being dropped out of the long-range supersonic Tupolev Tu-160, ending with a massive explosion.

The Russian military and CNN say that the FOAB (Father Of All Bombs) blast is the equivalent of 44 tons or 88,000 pounds of TNT and a blast radius of approximately 984 feet. Comparably, the MOAB has a force of 11 tons or 22,000 pounds and a blast radius of 492 feet.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the FOAB since its 2007 unveiling. Experts at the time cast doubt on whether or not it even existed.

But now, many military analysts believe this weapon is well within the Russian military's wheelhouse. Retired Col. Rick Francona told CNN:

“We believe it's real. The Russians have been among the pioneers of these thermobaric bombs. I don't have any doubt that they could build this. It falls under their technological capabilities.”

It has never been used in combat as of yet. We will never know just how powerful this weapon is until it has been physically dropped in to combat.

But an armchair military enthusiast who is clearly a Putin fan believes he knows who would be the winner:
