Question "Tour of Duty"

What is your opinion of the tv serial show, "Tour of Duty"???

I find I am getting hooked on watching it. To me, a mere civilian, the shows seems to cover many hardships and traumas that was experienced at that time. But then what do I know huh?

What do those of you who were actually there think of this show?

Sue,

That is MY FAVORITE of all shows about Nam.

It is so realistic, even the scenes of TSN, RVN.

I am Navy, but that show beats out all the rest, and I cant pick it up anymore right now cause of the seasonal thing.

enough........

Default Tour

I thought the show was petty goog for the first couple years, When they started to get Girlfriends and reporters (women) it started to take on a China beach type show.
What they should have done is reotate the actors each season just like in VN, new people. Leave the women out of it.

Default Susan.....

That flick series in nothing I identify with so it?s all new to me. Once in a while when not shooting the place up, we?d go into Hue or Da Nang harbor, set the hook, go ashore in motor whaleboats and behave like a bunch of crazy people with our hair on fire. It was called ?Liberty Call? and I?m not sure all that bit of business would get as good as a PG rating, LOL. Glad you enjoy the series, I?ll have to check it out again sometime and remind myself how the more civilized contingent lived once upon a time.

I liked it. It hasn't been shown on our cable system for a long time.
TV really sucks now. Wall-to-wall "paid programming" ( advertising infomercials ) starting at midnite until 6:00 AM, on what seems like 30+ channels ..HBO is getting real bad too. They have lots of movies they could show but don't. We have had cable tv in Memphis since 1981 and the quality and selection of shows declines every year. Shows like "Tour of Duty" would be very welcome.

Ditto Mort,

When I left Ohio in 1980 we had Cable and HBO, and now 2003, the HBO is still showing the same darn movies, and it seems to me that the rest, TMC, SHOWTIME, CINEMAX, STARZ, are following suit, and even repeating movies from the 40s and alot of filmakers documentaries. I am get sick of paying for it, but ifn I dont want it, then I wont have anything to watch but normal VHF/UHF channels.

I thought HOLLYWOOD was rich, they should be making more new movies suitable for cable/satelite.

enough........

Our THC dont pick it up.........................

Think I will go out to the garden and eat a worm.. I am so upset. That series is alot better than all the reruns of Andy and Mayberry.
