Default Mauser 2

Ok COL I have another one for you. It is a Mauser no markings on the butt plate. It has a M-48 stamped on top of the chamber. Right side is stamped A 37785. Left side is stamped HPJ then in what looks almost like Russian lettering nPEA3EKE44. The underside of the muzzle is stamped Cherrys GSC NC. The rear sight is is typical mauser and graduated from 2 - 20. Front sight is fixed and covered post. The barrle length is roughly 24". Overall condition of the rifle is excellant.

Thanks,
Trav

I'll get back to you tomorrow on the model, probably a russian spin off. But the Cherry's markings tell me that it was an import from the 50's when Cherry's Sporting Goods imported a shit load of them and sold them for around $36.00 apiece. They're still good shooters and make great deer rifles. Not worth much as collectors items but who cares?

Believe it or not, the 03' Springfield, the Mod. 700 Remington and the Mod. 70 Winchester are ALL Mauser spinoffs. The Mauser action was the BEST bolt action ever designed!

Default OK, what you have

is a Czech mod. 98 VZ24. These were assembled from mod 98K parts and are identifiable by the large stamped steel triggerguard and permanent magazine floorplate. The original markings were removed and replaced by Czech markings. The value for one in excellent condition is around $325.00

Thanks Col, I know these weapons are not worth much but I just love them, and they are a dream to shoot.
