Default mauser-7,65

I recently acquired a mauser-7,65 at a yard sale..It has Mauser-,7,65 on the right side and WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.G,OBERNDORF A.N.MAUSER'S PATENT on the left side...It is chromed with a one piece wooden hand grip and has a holster and a clip with numbers that match the last three digets of the serial number...I paid $150.00 because it is in excellent shape, the serial number is 238XXX of course the X's are numbers. Can anyone tell me any thing about this gun....

Thanks,

Richard J Unger

If I remember correctly they were made for Argentina under contract and replacement ammo is usually labeled 7.65mm Argentine. I have limited experence with them but the ones I've fiddled with were well-made and accurate. Being chromed suggests that it was intended for color guard or drill team use. Could be used to hunt pretty much anything you would use a .30-'06 for.

Ungerr,

You referred to a holster in your description so I assume you are describing a pistol and not a rifle.

Your description of a one-piece wooden grip makes me think it's a Mauser Model 1914.
Proper American ammunition for this pistol will be the .32 ACP cartridges. The wooden grip may have a diamond pattern (as shown) or it may be smooth.

Here's a photo:
