Cool Trump needs to learn about Policy & Procedures

Difference Between Policy and Procedure
RE: http://www.differencebetween.com/dif...-vs-procedure/

Policy vs Procedure:

Policies and procedures are two words often talked about in any organization. They are extremely important and no organization can work in the absence of policies and procedures. But there are so many similarities in the two concepts that many often use the words interchangeably, which is not correct. This article intends to highlight the difference between policy and procedure so that any person working in an organization may not have any confusion between the two.

Policy -

You must have read the term policy in the context of a government having a foreign policy or an economic policy in place. This gives a clue as to what a policy is. It is actually a guiding principle that is put in place to give direction to the employees of an organization. In the context of a government, it is the direction in which a particular department or ministry should move forward to achieve its goals. It serves as a guide in decision making under different sets of circumstances. This policy is always within the framework of the missions and objectives of any organization and is usually set by top brass of any organization.

In an organization, policies can also be understood as written or unwritten code of conduct and also rules under which operations are to be carried out to achieve the goals of the organization. In any organization, there are policies pertaining to each and every aspect of the system whether it is employees, work culture, modus operandi, business dealings, billing and accounting methods, or the security of the company. These policies are kept in place for the organizational set up to keep functioning smoothly and without any glitches. There would be utter chaos in any organization if there are no policies in place. Just imagine the chaos at a traffic signal if it does not work.

Procedure -

When you are in a chemistry class, the teacher tells you everything about a topic, but it is when you apply the knowledge gained in a lab practically that you realize what needs to be done at what time. It is like learning about all the parts of a car such as clutch, brakes and steering in a driving school and then applying all the knowledge gained while driving on road. So policies set the guidelines, and procedures are their practical applications.

Difference between Policy and Procedure -

If you are working in a factory, there are policies about operating a machine, but procedures are the set of actions that you need to perform while operating the machine in reality. In fact, procedures are step by step instructions that tell the employees what to do and when to do it in real life. Policies translated into action are procedures.

There are obvious differences between policy and procedure.

Differences between policy and procedure

• Policies guide top management in decision making, while procedures guide
employees into action.

• Policies can be modified by the management, but procedures remain in force and are
to be followed in Toto.

• Policies reflect the mission statements and objectives of a company, while
procedures are practical applications of these policies.

• Policies are made by the top brass, while procedures are made in consultation with
employees.

Difference Between Behavior and Attitude

Behavior vs Attitude:

Attitude and behavior are closely related in some sense though they are two different concepts. One of the most important differences between behavior and attitude is that attitude is internal whereas behavior is external in sense. In other words it can be said that behavior can very well be seen by others as it is external whereas attitude is shelled within the mind of the individual and hence cannot be seen by others immediately.

Experts say that that attitude is what you think whereas behavior is what you do. In other words it can be said that attitude has to do with the mind whereas behavior has a lot to do with actions.

Attitude is thought-oriented whereas behavior is action-oriented. Hence attitude has all the power to shape the behavior of a person. It is indeed true that a person with the right attitude would be endowed with the right behavior too.

Attitude is all about the opinion somebody has about something in life. Behavior is about how one responds to the impulsions and the pulls of the environment.

It is indeed possible to judge one’s attitude through one’s behavior though attitude is not visible externally. One can say that one’s friend has a good attitude towards life. It is evident from the person’s behavior. Hence attitude and behavior are related in some sense though they are two different concepts.

The response of an individual or a system to the environmental pulls is what is called behavior. Attitude is also a kind of response in the sense that it is a response from within to the deep consciousness.

There is no external implication of the internal feeling in the concept of attitude. The feeling is kept well within the individual. On the other hand the feeling is poured out in behavior. It is for sure that behavior and attitude are the two dimensions of an individual.

Difference Between Habit and Behavior

Habit vs Behavior:

Habit and behavior of a person are used in describing that person’s character. However there is a lot of difference between habit and behavior. Behavior refers to the actions of a living being or a system in response to the environment. It is the response of the system or the individual to various external impulsions.

A habit on the other hand is a routine of behavior. It occurs when the routine is repeated regularly. Another important feature of a habit is that it occurs subconsciously. While engaging in a habit one is not conscious of the routine of behavior. This is the main difference between habit and behavior.

It is interesting to note that habits are sometimes compulsory. Behavior on the other hand is said to be controlled by the endocrine system and nervous system. Hence it is believed that the complexity in the nervous system would result in the complexity in the behavior too.

Habit formation is the process by which a behavior becomes a habit. On the other hand a habit cannot become behavior because of the fact that one is not conscious of one’s habit. Behavior on the other hand can be innate or learned from outside sources.

Behavior is repeated by a person who is conscious of it whereas a habit is repeated by a person who is not conscious of it. This is one of the main differences between habit and behavior. Researchers have found out that automatic behavior is unintentional in nature. Automatic behavior is something akin to habit in the sense that both are unintentional.

Behavior is regarded as any action of an individual or a system that changes his or its relationship to his or its environment. Behavior is the output from the individual or the system to the environment. On the other hand habit is the input from the environment to the individual. Habits die hard goes the saying.

Question

Character vs Culture

* Culture is societal whereas character is individualistic. Culture is the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society; Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.

* Culture is an identity; Character is a quality.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Culture and Character are two terms that are normally used in the description of a human being. These two terms seem to have some difference between them though they appear to be same as far as the delineation of their meaning is concerned.

Culture is the result of a movement in a country. Thus people of the world are classified according to different cultures. Culture is a system of building identity. It is a process to live in a community. Culture is a factor that differs from group to group.

It is important to note that culture is influenced by many factors such as food habits, economy, faiths, religious beliefs, language and the like. In short it can be said that cultural growth can be estimated by community growth.

The mental and ethical traits that make a man is called character. It is to be remembered that we imbibe character not for others to see it. On the contrary character resides even when not seen.

Character is determined by our action of doing the right thing. Bad character is characterized by an action that is bad in nature. Good character is characterized by the performance of an action that is beneficial and good in nature.

It is quite interesting to note that everyone in the world is endowed with character. It has nothing to do with race or religion or even culture for that matter. Character is above everything including culture. It transcends education and sex too.

Sometimes the word character is used in the sense of a quality, especially a good quality. The usage goes as ‘He has character’. It means he has good qualities about him. Hence character is associated with anything that is good.

Recap:

The difference between character and culture:

Character is determined by our action of doing the right thing, whereas culture is a system of building identity.

The mental and ethical traits that make a man is called character, whereas everyone in the world is endowed with character. Character is beyond culture and race too. It is above everything including religion and sex for that matter.

Conclusion: Trump is a Character who needs refinement and more research on most topics.
