The Princess Effect!!
Just saw a piece on ABC Good Morning America entitled the "Princess Effect!" One of the people taking part in this piece was a psychiatrist who extolled the harm being done to young girls [my four year old grand-daughter included] fantasizing about being princesses!
What struck me as odd, was the fact that this gal [psychiatrist] was wearing a hairdo right out of a 30's Shirley Temple movie, Banana Curls and all. Now how is that for the pot calling the kettle black. I half expected this psychiatrist to close with a tap dance while singing a rendition of "On The Good Ship Lollipop!" Rick

I think I caught some of that the other day. All parents think their little daughter's are princesses. I think this is common among-est little girls who want to be a little princess. My kids played like that during their younger years. I can agree with the psychiatrist if the kids are now young adults and still carrying this prince and princess status with them. We all know that some parents tend to carry this thing too long and eventually the kids are in for some reality checks and it could be a little disturbing to them to know the fantasy has to end.

Two points:
1. Children know the difference between pretend and reality. If they are carrying this crap into adulthood it might be good to look around at the adults who raise 'em. 2. This opinion comes from a member of a profession that saw no danger in Cho.
