The media loves Hillary — and it could cost her the election

http://nypost.com/2016/09/27/the-med...-the-election/

Back when I was a pup in the newspaper business, legendary reporter Peter Kihss gave me lifetime advice about covering politicians. Remember, he said, there are no such things as stupid questions, only stupid answers.

Which brings us to Lester Holt and the accusations that the moderator tipped Monday’s debate in favor of Hillary Clinton. Holt’s bias was obvious, but the impact was not inevitable. It mattered largely because, shockingly, Donald Trump was shocked that Holt was in the tank for Clinton.

How could Trump not see that coming? And if he did, why wasn’t he better prepared?
Holt never pressed Clinton with any substantive follow-ups, while Trump repeatedly was asked to defend or explain what he had just said or said in the past.

Holt insisted repeatedly Trump had supported the Iraq War, despite the candidate’s denials, and asked pointed questions about his taxes and the Obama birther issue. Yet Clinton got only one obligatory question on the email scandal, and not a single one about the Clinton Foundation, her Wall Street speaking fees or her health — all of which have figured far more prominently in the campaign than Iraq or the birther issue.

It was outrageous — but no surprise. After all, Holt is part of the Big Media establishment that has uniformly protected President Obama and broken all its own standards to trash Trump and elect Clinton.

Holt even got a warning shot when his NBC colleague, Matt Lauer, was thrashed by the liberal media amid accusations that he was too tough on Clinton and too soft on Trump at an earlier forum.

A second warning shot came just last weekend, when Clinton’s Praetorian Guard carried out a synchronized assault against Trump. The New York Times, the Washington Post, Politico and the Los Angeles Times all carried very similar stories accusing Trump of repeated lies.
To call that a coincidence would be a Clintonian lie. Those articles matched the talking points of her campaign, which also demanded that Holt “fact-check” Trump, which, of course, he did, while leaving her un-checked.

In short, the debate fix was broadcast on the front pages well in advance, yet Trump wasn’t ready for it. Although he didn’t make fatal mistakes and survived Clinton’s best punches, his meandering digressions, along with his failure to demand the answers from Clinton that Holt didn’t, cost him precious time and opportunity. As such, they fall into Peter Kihss’ category of “stupid answers.”

But here’s the other side of the story: Trump won’t suffer much voter pain, certainly not enough to put victory out of reach. His secret weapon is that his core supporters, including many independents, distrust the media nearly as much as they distrust Clinton.
Consider that, while most media professionals said Clinton won the debate, most online polls of viewers had Trump winning.

The split verdict reflects a theme that goes back to the earliest GOP primary debates. Candidates who blasted media moderators for being prejudiced against Republicans got rousing ovations.

The anger has grown more pronounced since Trump, the ultimate outsider, crashed the party to win the nomination. With media bias blatant on a daily basis, it is far more than a sideshow.

My inbox routinely contains letters from readers such as Gayla Chandler, who wrote, “So my vote for Trump is partially FOR Trump, but it is equally against both Hillary and media manipulation.”

6 theories for why Donald Trump won’t release his tax returns
By Chris Cillizza July 27
RE: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...s-tax-returns/

Washington Post)
In an interview on CBS Wednesday morning, Donald Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort confirmed what we long suspected: The Republican nominee will not release his tax returns before the election.

"Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit and he will not be releasing them," Manafort said.

That decision will make Trump the first major party nominee in more than four decades not to release personal tax returns.

By way of explanation, Manafort cited the fact that Trump is the subject of an audit. But that's only one of a bevy of theories floating around as to why Trump is so adamantly opposed to releasing his returns. Let's go through them.

1. He has Russian ties. On Monday night, George Will offered up this theory. "Perhaps one more reason why we're not seeing his tax returns is because he is deeply involved in dealing with Russian oligarchs and others," Will speculated in a conversation with Fox News's Bret Baier. "Whether that's good, bad or indifferent, it's probably the reasonable surmise."

The context for Will's comment is a whisper campaign from some Democrats that Russia understands Trump would be better for its interests than Hillary Clinton and, therefore, is orchestrating the leaking of hacked Democratic National Committee emails to damage her. (Many experts think that Russia was indeed behind the hack.)

Trump -- and Manafort -- insist that isn't the case and that he has no business interests in Russia.

2. He is being audited. I mean, maybe. Trump could, of course, release his tax returns even while he is under an audit. Richard Nixon did it in 1973.

3. He did not pay any taxes. The scant evidence we have on Trump's approach to taxation gives this theory credence. A 1981 report by New Jersey gambling regulators showed that Trump did not pay any taxes at all for two years in the 1970s. How? Because as a developer he was able to report negative income. (Here's a good explanation of how he could do that.)

4. He has mob ties. The idea that Trump has links to organized crime has been kicking around for decades. But they've come much more to the fore since he began running for president. Ted Cruz, during a late February interview on "Meet the Press," brought the accusation into the presidential race: "There have been multiple media reports about Donald's business dealings with the mob, with the mafia. Maybe his taxes show those business dealings are a lot more extensive than has been reported."

Mitt Romney, the party's 2012 presidential nominee, also offered a version of the mob theory in a May Facebook post.

5. He donates no — or very little — money to charity. Again, this is a theory with some meat on the bone. The Washington Post's David Fahrenthold had spent weeks contacting charities in hopes of tracking down the "millions" Trump says he has donated to various organizations over the past seven years. The total amount of charitable giving Fahrenthold found? $10,000. So ...

6. He is not as rich as he says. Nailing down Trump's personal wealth is a massive challenge. He says $10 billion. Others say $3 billion. Still others insist he is worth far less than either number. Trump takes considerable personal pride in touting his net worth and using it as a blunt instrument to respond to any charge that he has ever failed in life. Tax returns are tough to fudge; they nail down exactly how much you make in a year. Just the raw numbers. It would be hard for Trump to argue his way out of a yearly salary that doesn't befit a billionaire.

I'm not sure which of the theories above is the right one. Or whether the right one is even in our list. But what I do know is that Trump almost certainly is not going to release his tax returns before the November election, making him the first major-party candidate in more than four decades to refuse to do so.

Who cares if the media loves Hillary?

Such has been common knowledge for about 30 years,...or even more.

What we Americans should truly be concerned about instead, is that now even the FBI Has obviously been ordered by Their Boss (re. President Barack Hussein Obama II or Jr.) to love candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, treat her favorably, and Not Prosecute Her (like many others have Prosecuted for even less) for greatly mishandling CLASSIFIED, SECRET & TOP SECRET matters which put many Americans' and American Friendlies' Lives at risk.

Therefore, wouldn't is currently be wise to more sensibly rename The FBI to instead be called The DFBI and/or The Democrat Favorable Bureau of Investigation?

While at it, and in the same context of Total Honesty,...let's honestly rename other big and politically beholding and corrupted bureaucracies to DFDOJ, DFIRS, and so on and so forth.

What a shame. Now even FBI head is obviously in tank for The King.

RECO - they are both bad apples. Can't trust neither. Both have issues. But this is all we have so our choices are limited. I don't care for either one. Coin toss won't matter who gets in. We will loose in the long run either way.

Boats,
Disagree about: "Both bad apples" and "Can't trust neither".

Wealthy Trump has historically produced many jobs, built many structures and improved many properties,...at no expense to: "WE The People".

Plus I believe and trust Donald Trump.

Whereas Hillary never produced a job, built anything or ever improved anything, and got very, very wealthy at Public Expense.

Plus I've never believed or trusted Hillary (her horny husband Bill Clinton also),...since both have been labelled: "Pathological liars", going back about thirty years.

Both Hill & Bill hold the record for: "I don't recalls" under oath, from way-back-when.

Lately, old Hillary has even improved her record of phony: "I don't recalls", when questioned about her both DEADLY Benghazi INEPTNESS & DEADLY email INEPTNESS.

In general, one can tell when both Clintons are lying,...when their mouths are moving.
