Back to the Sand Box
Just got an e-mail from my daughter-in-law. Seems like my son will be going back to Baghdad before Christmas. What a bummer! I guess this is to provide security for the polls for the Iraqui elections in January. This will be his 3d tour in the "Box".

Murph,
give my sympathies to his family for the poor timing, but as a military family I know they understand. Also, give your son my gratitude for his continued service to our country.

I flew down to Ft. Bragg on the 30th and had a wonderful time with my son, daughter in law and the grand kids. Had an early birthday party (1 day) today and got some really great home made cards from the grandkids which I will always cherish. Taught my oldest grand son and my grand daughter how to shoot today and they ended up by putting everything in the 10 ring at 25 feet with a pellet rifle. I'm sitting in the Landmark Hotel at Ft. Bragg right now and will be flying back to Philly in the morning after I go to breakfast with the "Over-the-hill-gang" at the Green Beret Club at 6 am.
It's up in the air still as to who is going back. Might be the whole brigade and might be just two battalions. My son tells me that after his next PCS he will be at Ft. Campbell as the Chaplain of the 5th Special Forces Group. HOOAH!
