What about "Band of Brothers?" Has anybody else been watching it? How much of it is real and how much is "Holleywood?" What about the combat scenes? I have heard that the scenes in "Saving Private Ryan" were pretty good; these appear to be as good. What do ya'll think? What about the camera shaking during the combat scenes? I suppose it is to emphasize confusion and the fog of war, but it can be dizzying like home movies.

I'm pretty impressed by the combat scenes for "Band of Brothers", since I've been watching all of them (and most of 'em twice, on repeats). The shaking is a little distracting, but it serves to show the utter confusion and disorder of modern combat, especially to the poor bloody infantry (OK, parachute infantry).
I've been especially impressed by the range and accuracy of the German combat vehicles shown, especially in the second Normanday episode (#3), and Market-Garden 1 (#4). We saw a StuG-IIIG, a Marder III, (both in #3, along with a halftrack and maybe a StuPz-IV). Episode 4 showed a PzJg-V, I think (a little hard to tell; it could've been, and more likely was, a StuG-IVna PaK L/4, along with another halftrack or two, and at least one other AFV I couldn't clearly identify Both those vehicles have broadly similar sloped armor from the front, and main guns with muzzle brakes, so it's a bit of a toss-up. I lean toward the StuG-IVna, since only 392 of the PzJg-Vs (Jagdpanthers) were built, versus 769 of the StuG-IVna. On thinking back to the images, I'm kinda inclined toward the Jagpanther. Still, the filmmakers have done a fine job.

First I have to say thank you Chilidog from David & I for sending the tape of the first 5 episodes. So far we have gotten to watch two. I see the similarities to "Saving Private Ryan", it makes me feel more like I am right next to the guys in the dirt, instead of on my couch. The acting is Captivating!
dont want to make to many more comments till I am done watching all five.
It of course brings to mind another great peice of work "All Quiet on the Western Front"
