Default 39mto39g -- wannabe/poser

There has been quite a past on this forum involving 39mto39g. This involved many people, but most notably wannabe charges and countercharges between 39mto39g and PHO127 took up a great deal of bandwidth here.

As it turned out, a Freedom of Information Act request was submitted to obtain the records on PHO127 and those records prove that he was indeed a wannabe. This fact has been noted on all posts from PHO127 on this forum and his profile.

Because there have been so many questions raised on the outrageous claims made by 39mto39g, I did some research, and with the selfless assistance of many individuals on this forum, Patriot Files 2, The History Channel forums and the Special Forces Teamhouse List, I finally obtained enough information on 39mto39g to do a Freedom of Information Act request on him. Last month I submitted a FOIA request on him through Mary Schantag of the POW Network. She obtained the records of 39mto39g and on 05-22-10 she sent those records to me. The records prove conclusively what many of you here have long suspected -- 39mto39g is a verified wannabe/poser.

When comparing those records to the claims 39mto39g has made on this forum, and repeated on other forums, I came up with the following:

39mto39g states:
Dropped out of high school in September of 1965, just prior to his 18th birthday.
Enlisted in Chicago on November 5, 1969, a Friday.
Took a train to Fort Knox, KY.

FOIA shows:
16 November 1965: Reported to Fort Knox, KY for Basic Training and remained on casual status through 28 November.
29 November 1965: Started Basic Training, assigned to B Company, Ninth Battalion, Fifth Brigade.
21 January 1966: Graduated from Basic Training.
22 January 1966: Casual status en route to Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

39mto39g states:
“Heavy equipment operation and maintenance” AIT.

FOIA shows:
4 February 1966: Advanced Individual Training as a Military Occupation Specialty 62A10 Engineer Equipment Maintenance with D Company, First Battalion, Fourth Training Brigade at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
12 April 1966: Completed AIT earning the MOS 62A10 -- Engineer Equipment Maintenance assistant.fficeffice" />>>
39mto39g states:
Awakened by his sergeant in the early morning hours of the morning following AIT graduation (13 April 1966) to go help out some attacking Marines, landing at “Red Beach” in the Dominican Republic.

Historical fact:
April 25, 1965 US ships were ordered off the coast of Dom. Rep.
April 26, 1965 US ships arrived.
April 27, 1965 US citizens were evacuated from Dom. Rep.
April 28, 1965 the first Marines landed at the Dominican Republic.
June 3, 1965 President Johnson orders the withdrawal of the US Marines in the Dominican Republic.
June 9, 1965 that last of the Marines return to Camp Lejuene, NC.
August 31, 1966 the Brazilian peace keepers took over and there was an appropriate reduction of US presence and forces in the country.>>
39mto39g states:
“Won Bosh” (real spelling was Juan Bosch) had taken over Santo Domingo.

Historical fact:
Juan Bosch served as President of the Dominican Republic from February 27, 1963 until his ouster from office via a coup on September 23, 1963. COL Francisco Caamaño overthrew that government on April 24, 1965. The US sent forces there on April 28, 1965 to restore order, or whatever your politics may tell you what the reason was for our presence. An interim government was formed and Presidential elections were then scheduled for July 1, 1966; an election for which Bosch only halfhearted campaigned because he feared for his safety. He was not involved in rebel activities when Ron arrived in the Dominican Republic.>>
39mto39g states:
En route to the Dominican Republic he was issued an M-14 rifle, his MOS was changed to 11B (without receiving formal training as an infantryman other than that given in Basic Training) and that he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as an infantryman.
He went on to see action in the Dominican Republic for the next six to eight months.

39mto39g states:
“While on guard duty a guy came from a tree line and pointed a gun at me. I fired and he went down. The Sgt and about 20 guys came and went to wear the guy was. I was relived from guard duty. I never seen the guy, but they tell me he was dead.”

FOIA shows:
13 April 1966: Sent to the Dominican Republic. Assigned to 627th Support Services Battalion in the Dominican Republic as a 62A10 Engineer Equipment Maintenance assistant.
20 June 1966: Assigned to the 649th Support and Service Company as a 62A10 Engineer Equipment Maintenance assistant.
17 August 1966: Unit PCS from the Dominican Republic to Fort Benning, GA as a member of the 649th Support and Service Company as a 62A10 Engineer Equipment Maintenance assistant.

My observation:
39mto39g spent four months and five days in the Dominican Republic about a year following the hostilities in that nation and ten months after the Marines had left.

Historical fact:
The 82nd Airborne Division had made the switch from M-14 rifles to M-16 rifles some months before being deployed to the Dominican Republic and more than a year before 39mto39g was deployed. 39mto39g’s own statement that he was issued an M-14 rifle as his weapon during his purported time with the 82nd Infantry Division in the Dominican Republic conflicts with the known facts about that unit, as well as his actual unit assignments as shown by the FOIA request.>>
39mto39g wrote:
“I came back to the States on the Navy ship USS Hermitage, Were we drove from North Carolina in a convoy to Fort Benning. I was at Benning for a short period when I met Col. Hampton Rollin, (The Guy that sent the map of VN to my mother). Col. Rollin got me into Pathfinder school (I had the patch on the dress uniform that I had on when I came home (Blue patch that said “fallow Me”) .”

FOIA shows:
7 December 1966: Assigned to Company B, U.S. Army Infantry Center Training Command (3A-3150) at Fort Benning GA as a 64B20 Heavy Vehicle Driver.
No assignment to Pathfinder School, but may well have supported the school as a Heavy Vehicle Driver.>>
39mto39g states:
Assigned to a recon platoon with the 1st Battalion 35th infantry, 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division in Viet Nam.

FOIA states:
10 May 1967: Casual status en route to Viet Nam.
18 June 1967: Assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, First Battalion, 35th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Viet Nam.

Historical fact:
1 August 1967: The 35th Infantry was transferred to the Fourth Infantry. 39mto39g also mentioned this fact in some of his posts.

FOIA states:
19 June, 1968: Casual status en route to the Continental United States.
24 July 1968: Assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Second Battalion, Eleventh Infantry, Fort Carson, CO as a 64B20 Heavy Vehicle Driver.
3 September 1968: Honorably separated from Active Duty as a specialist Fourth Class.>>
Awards and decorations: National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one service star, Viet Nam Campaign Badge with 1960 device and Expert Badge with Rifle Bar. >>
The Freedom of information Act report fails to mention his ever attending an Infantry AIT school or show any assignments where his duty MOS was 11B. His only change of MOS shown was when his MOS was changed from 62A10 (Engineer Equipment Maintenance) to 64B20 (Heavy Vehicle Driver) 0n & December 1966 while at Fort Benning, GA. The latter being his MOS upon separation from the Army on 3 September 1968.

No direct action combat unit assignment in the Dominican Republic.

No direct action combat unit assignment in Viet Nam.

No record of having ever served in a combat arms assignment at any time.

No award of the Combat Infantryman’s badge.

No records of having ever attended Pathfinder School, but he may well have supported the school as a Heavy Vehicle Operator while at Fort Benning.

None of 39mto39g’s claims of combat in Viet Nam are supported by his official records.

39mto39g’s official records with regards to his service in the Dominican Republic prove that he could not have been involved in any of the actions about which he made claims with regard to the U.S. involvement there.

39mto39g states:
VN was not actually my first time shooting my gun in anger, (Dominican Republic) But that wasn't the same. We kinda all stood and fired at a building sort of, that a "rebel" was hold up in?”

My observation:
What about the guy 39mto39g claimed to kill while on guard duty in Dom. Rep.? Real deal guys don’t forget such things. Everybody, even civilians who are recreational hunters with no military experience, always recall their first kill.

39mto39g’s records and actual service are something about which he should be proud, rather than fabricating unit assignments, MOSs and actions in order to somehow make himself appear to be that which he was not. To continue doing so, he brings discredit to all who ever wore this county’s uniform while stealing the honor and valor of others.

As an Army Combat Engineer myself, and the brother of a truck driver in Viet Nam, I see no reason to be ashamed of either job and find it disgusting to think that someone would find either job something about which to not be proud. Of course, your mileage may vary.

The reponse to the Freedom of Information Act requests is appended to this message,

Robert

Why are we not suprised? Liars and wannabees abound, and may the cheeks of their indivudual asses grow shut. And tha especially applies to the POS who is running as a Democrat in Connecticutt.

Considering the disunity and anger and personal attacks that this long-time poser caused on here, and other military sites that he joined, I would think that his exposure and demise would be celebrated in a rather robust manner on here, not the way it seems to be, quite indifference. I for one, appreciate all the hard work by Robert and others that led to this confirmation of what many older members apparently suspected for many years. We must always remember that if one or more of us has valid doubts and reservations about the stories told by a member, we are obligated to confirm or deny the veracity of that person, for no other reason then to protect the legacy and honor of those who no longer can defend themselves from posers who seek to steal their sacrifice and valor. This problem of wannabes seems to be getting worst, not better, and people that served yet want to embellish their own records are to me no better then those who never served and yet put on the uniform and medals and pretend to have served. With me, you either have personal integrity and honor or you don't and to me, both are dishonorable lying cowards.

Fox the quiet indifference is due to the fact that most of the people involved have not used the site in some time with any regularity due to the disunity and anger you mentioned above.

I appreciate your efforts. Thank you.

Cool ussfa344: Thank you for all y'alls hard work

We expended enough energy arguing with this POS in the past.

This information gives us closure.

Giving him more attention is not what we want but the information is now posted here for those who left to come back and see what has been done to reveal phonies. Lots more people read here now than post.

Several times, new people have come here and are challenged about their statements. Sometimes they leave. Sometimes they get angry and argue their bonifides.

To last for the years that this site has been active, you need to be honest about your service. Proud is even better.

David,
Thank you so much for your explanation.
And to everyone, I respect this site and PF's2 so much, especially since the latest house-cleaning. I am nothing more then a regular reader and occasional poster, but like I said before, you must never let your guard down or these fakes will infiltrate and before you know it, corrupt those around them and destroy the integrity of the website. The fact that they are willing to go to so much trouble to fool everyone else shows to what degree they are afflicted. This entire sad episode on both sites has been very trying for many of us and personally, it has made me even more cautious and less likely to share myself with others then I was before. Again, thank you to everyone that played a part in the solution and let's hope Ronabe just crawls under a rock somewhere and disappers but I think all of know that will probably not happen. These low-lifes feed on the attention that they get for their false bravado and they need it to justify their existence.

David,

I am putting a packet together for the POW Network's wall of shame on this individual. Unfortunately I have been quite busy and spending a great deal of time away from home and my computer since I got his records, but I should have it to Mary Schantag within the next two weeks. I have all of his claims in six PDF files that actually came from ronnabe himself. And I did the FOIA request through Mary so she already has his actual records. I just need to get this all put together in a usable package for her. Mary works so hard exposing these wannabes that it is an obligation for the rest of us to help her all we can. In this case it means putting this together in an easy package for her to upload, rather than giving her many years worth of ronnabe's drivel, expecting her to sift through it all. In one more week I should be able to attack this head on, giving Ronald Kenneth Byrd, also known as Ronald Kenneth Willert, all of the attention he sought and so richly deserves -- a permanet place on the POW network's wannabes page.

Robert
