Thumbs up Thirty-five for me:

On July 18, 1970 I got married to a beautiful girl who knew about my Vietnam service, anger that occasionally surfaced because of that service and the loss of my Best Buddy while we both did our tours there in 1968. She accepted all of the hostility that I occasionally exhibited without complaint. Through the years I often wondered why she had not just thrown me out, as I have not been the easiest person to live with all these years.

This July 18 will make thirty-five years that we have been married and I am grateful for every day that she has had the courage to put up with me and the daemons that still haunt me to this day. Maybe it takes a very special person to marry, and then put up with the problems of being married to a Vietnam Veteran.

To my Wife, Dolores, I now say a big THANK YOU for those thirty-five years of marriage and the two great Sons we now have.

To all of my Vietnam Veteran Brothers and Sisters that have also found the right girl, I congratulate you. To the ones that have not yet found that right girl, I urge you to keep looking. She is out there somewhere--all you have to do is FIND HER!!

I will again wish all of my Vietnam Veteran Brothers and Sisters a big:

WELCOME HOME

Post Vietnam 1968

Two Words as to why your marriage lasted:

Love and Committment.

When love and committment are in a marriage, they always make it. Even Vietnam vets and their wives make it.

And, Vietnam vets generally aren't any worse or better than others when it comes how easy or hard it is to live with them.

But if both partners have love and committment (and sometimes only one partner) the marriage will make it.

Nam 68, you did good, real good.

Keith

29 years with my present wife. I dont know how she does it......The first 2 were like training wheels.
Keith, You're right, if you dont have love and commitment (for your wife only) then it wont last.
See......I can be serious when I want to
