Default Blizzards vs. Hurricanes

Here in the Northern Plains we just recovered from a historic,
may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" with a
terrible blizzard that dumped up to 24" inches of snow with 50 mph winds that created a white-out beyond huricane proportions that broke trees in half, stranded hundreds of motorist in near-lethal snowbanks, closed all roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to tens of thousands of people.

George Bush did not come . . . FEMA staged nothing . . . no one
howled for the government...no one even uttered an expletive on TV. Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards . . . no one asked for a FEMA trailer home.

No national news anchors moved in.

We just melted snow for water, closed Interstate 94, sent out
caravans to pluck people out of snow-engulfed cars, fired up wood stoves, broke out oil lanterns or camp lamps, and put on an extra layer of clothes.

Even though a "Category 5" blizzard of this scale has never before overtaken the region this early in the "blizzard season" we know it can happen, we know how to deal with it ourselves,
and we didn't even give the blizzard a name.

Everyone in North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana are fine.

Thanks Brice
It sure makes one proud when our leaders recognize a problem immediately and act upon it without blaming someone else first.
Its like you said with the blizzard....we get those conditions here.
We prepare for it. Everyone pitches in. From rescuing stranded motorists to snow removal to getting medical supplies to the sick. If everone would help, Its no longer a problem

Help? The hell with that! That is why we have a Federal Government. I am lazy and have never held a job in my life. The most productive thing I have ever done is walk to the mail box once a month! Why should I help you? Besides you owe me!

And by-the-way, my driveway needs shoveling!

Good one Trav
Thats the general attitude of a few who thinks the government owes them a living....Now as far as your driveway goes.....I should be up sometime in June to clear it for you.....Or you can work on the basis of: God giveth and God taketh away. Either way there's one thing you can be sure of.....Your driveway will be clear by June

Bob

I did some work in Seebree a few years ago and stayed in Evansville, IN. They had a motel or hotel that had a bi-wing mounted in the place. The tail section was in the lobby and the bi-wing and cockpit was in the bar. I remember that clearly but I don't know if that bar still exist. It's been about 10 years ago I was down that way on work.
