In 28 years the only time I ever worked with Boston City cops was at Association or Union meets, usually working on a keg. For that matter even the State Police don't like working with Boston guys, they are a world unto themselves. For years they were always armed with the S&W .38 Chief's Special. I know about ten years ago they went to a 9mm but not sure which kind. Glock is very popular and I know they don't do business with S&W (for semi's), but I'm not positive.
Most of the departments in this area use the same weapon on and off duty, which seems really dumb. However, for liability you have to quality each year with any weapon you use. So standardization is the big thing.
