NEW YORK (Dec. 12, 2017)

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson (right) presents the George Van Cleave USO Military Leadership Award to Navy Aircrewman Helicopter 2nd Class Daniel Harlow at the 56th Armed Forces Gala and Gold Medal Dinner in New York City. Each year, the USO George Van Cleave Military Leadership Award is given to one service member from each branch who, through their selfless commitment to country, inspire others and uplift the spirits of their comrades, their families, and the American people. Harlow received the award in recognition of his heroic actions rescuing more than 50 civilians during relief operations following the devastation of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. The USO is a private, non-profit organization that seeks to strengthen America's military by keeping them connected to their family and nation.
