Thumbs up News Conference

Today, Tuesday, 21 February 2006, should really kick off HR 2369/S 2157.

It is hoped that many will attend the joint news conference to be held at Balboa Park, San Diego at 11:15 today. (Veterans Memorial Museum, 2115 Park Blvd)

In attendance should be members of the House and Senate. Also invited was the City Council member who?s area Balboa falls into, TV and newspaper media, the various veterans groups (of course) who support this long-overdue legislation, and any other patriotic soul who wishes to attend.

It is also hoped that Congressman Duncan Hunter will have a representative at the function, in his capacity as Chairman of the House Armed Services committee. He has (three times by mail) expressed his firm belief that: (Quote) ?It is incumbent upon our federal government to honor those individuals who die in the defense of our nation, Further, I am well aware of the sacrifices and emotional distress placed on those held captive by an enemy!?

As this is a bi-partisan House Bill, with a companion Bill in the Senate, I am sure that the entire government will come out in support of this legislation. Those who died, both in combat, and as captives of a vicious enemy, must never be forgotten. For if we forget them, we also turn our back upon all that we stand for!

FYI - As of this morning, there are now a full 173 members of the House alone (not counting our growing support in the Senate) who stand in support of this exceptional Bill, and the number is growing in the House and Senate alike.....
