21 days, counting today!

Yesterday was nice - today is looking like an ice storm is coming up. As soon as I get to the scanner I've got some photos of a PERFECT day - will post 'em when I got 'em.

What is a 'Wild?'

Dan, Regarding your question on page 260
The supply ship looks to be the USS Mars or one of the ?planet? sister ships. This was a new class of ship that came into service during the VN war. It is a combination refrigerator, supply, ammo and fuel ship. The multiple cargo booms allow several different types of cargo to be sent over on the high lines at the same time and is usually seen with receiving ships on both port and starboard. Keith would have loved seeing this one along side because it brought the ice cream. I?d say the work is just about to start as it appears like the Carrier is maneuvering to come along side from the rear and the monkey fist (bolo) is about to go out and that connects the ships. As with all USN supply ships they are single screw (propeller) so they aren?t as nimble or responsive as a Cruiser, Destroyer or Carrier. Their job during UNREP (under way replenishment) is to hold a straight course and steady speed and a huge single screw is good at that. Receiving ships maneuver to come along side.

The Carrier is the USS Nimitz, CVN 68.

Scamp

alright Hockey fans - my brother and I have been plannin' on hittin' a pro hockey game for years... and it looks like it's the week after next or not for a LONG time. I have no idea who's who in the league right now... any recommendations who to try and talk my brother into seeing? We're about 8 hours away from Chicago and Denver, 6 or so from the Twin Cities - Dallas is doable too...
