Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. What was the dog's name? King? First TV I remember was Dad and Grandpa watching the Republican Convention - guy named Eisenhower won.

Default speaking of Ike...

There used to be a kids' show on Boston TV hosted by a guy called "Big Brother" Bob Emery. At the end of every show, he'd play a ukelele and sing, "Goodbye, small fry!" Midway through the show, he'd lead us all in a toast (a glass of milk) to the president. He'd stand before a large photo of Ike and they'd play "Hail to The Chief" and I'd slowly drain a big glass, of milk that is.
