Thumbs up O.A.S.I.S. a much needed program

Folks: I enclose a Letter from OASIS. Though it is true that many people play hurt it is especially true of SPECOPS personnel. As a result they lack the documentation required to receive VA benefits, OASIS is attempting to help these warriors out.

O.A.S.I.S. GROUP NEWSLETTER
Operational Advocates Supporting Injured Soldiers Group
“Help Us Help Them”
Volume One, Number 1 Winter 2009-10
Why OASIS?
Special Operations veterans are not whiners – they play hard, they play hurt
and often do not seek medical care when they’re injured or wounded. Or, their
own comrades, such as Army Special Forces medics, patch them up.
The unintended result, which does not become apparent until years later, is that
legitimate, service-connected disabilities are minimally documented or not
documented at all. By the time a disability is undeniably apparent and affecting
these Specops vets, years or even decades have passed.
Thus, many of our country’s most devoted warriors -- in need of VA care or
entitled to VA disability compensation and other little-known benefits – find
themselves combating a bureaucracy that is incredibly complex to navigate.
County Service Officers, though well-meaning, often do not understand this vet’s
unique experiences, nor the intricacies of this huge bureaucracy.
That’s why OASIS was formed – to create a network of veterans benefit experts
and medical professionals to help Specops veterans prepare and present their
cases to the Department of Veterans Affairs -- at NO COST to the vet.
Many OASIS doctors and claims specialists are themselves USSOCOM vets,
who can provide:
 Advice and assistance to current and former SOF members and EXPOW's
for claims filed with the VA
 Advice and assistance to surviving family members of former SOF
members and EX-POW's for claims filed with the VA
 Medical Examinations and statements for SOF veterans claims
 Representation for appeals filed with the Board of Veterans Affairs (BVA)
 Advice and assistance with regards to claims filed for Combat Related
Special Compensation (CRSC)
 Informational briefings to:
o Active duty SOF
o Fraternal / Veterans Organizations
O.A.S.I.S. Group is a 501(c) (19) Veterans Service Organization, Tax ID No. 26-
3181830, and a State of Washington registered corporation, dedicated to assisting
USSOCOM Special Operations veterans at no cost to the individual warrior.
