Default Should they have been relieved of duty?

I'll start out with the first one I have qualms about: Admiral "Bull" Halsey. Should he have been relieved of duty for his SNAFUs in the Pacific?

Here's my second candidate to be relieved. Capt. Leslie H. Gehres of the USS Franklin. Especially for his 704 Club idea, and for not knowing when it's time to abandon ship. Also for placing the lives of other ships' crews in jeopardy to save a hulk that would never fight again.

Gen. Mark Clark

Where do I start......... Salerno, Anzio, the worst case of incompetent action was the Rapido River fiasco which my uncle was involved. Or, maybe allowing the German 10th Army to escape so he could get the glory of being the first into Rome. He also was involved in a TOP SECRET OPERATION to meet we the Vichy France leaders prior to the invasion of North Africa. He left his pants on the beach with his identification !! It makes my blood boil thinking about how many brave soldiers he wasted with his ego and bad management.

Why relieve Halsey? He changed the direction of the "Canal" and surrounding waters battle. He took the fight to the Japanese fleets. Got faked out once off the Philippines, but Ike got faked out in the winter of '44. He was a fighter. I am open to good discussion.
