The Most Read Vietnam War Book... Remains Number One
The Most Read Vietnam War Book... Remains Number One
Abraham Lincoln made famous these words: "The victor writes the history of the war." Of all the books ever written one book exists on more veteran's hard drives -- even more than the Holy Bible. "Cannon Fodder: Growing Up For Vietnam" has been read by more Vietnam veterans than any book on the war... combined. And whether you respect the author or hate him, Phill Coleman (United States Army Signal Corp) remains the most debated author the Vietnam War has ever produced. Some reviews: One Vietnam War reviewer wrote: "Cannon Fodder is a mixture of brilliance, a reflection of cerebral intelIect... and some good old fashion American adventure... every veteran who served in Vietnam -- from pilot to grunt -- becomes a hero in Coleman's book... which has made him a permanent fixture in the history of the Vietnam War. I couldn't put it down. Not one aspect of the G.I. experience in Vietnam was left out." And: Coleman makes us think about the reality of not just the war, but about who we are as Americans, what we do... to ourselves and each other... and how important it is to always be involved in a project or mission that is worthwhile. Coleman hits the nail squarely on the head. He calls a spade a spade.
