Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller addressed the serious threats against children in war zones during talks with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms. Leila Zerrougui, on Friday (10 February 2017). The two leaders met at the Palais d’Egmont to attend the International Conference on Children and Armed Conflict, hosted by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Queen Mathilde of Belgium. In her conference remarks, Ms. Gottemoeller stressed the importance of strengthening the protection of children in armed conflict and highlighted NATO’s work with the UN in this field.
