Question Columbus Day - Say What? LOL

?Uno Brillante Errore!?? (A Brilliant Mistake)

They say that Columbus set sail with four ships (one has to turn back for a break job along the way), and finally made it to the New World with but three, the Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria!

However, it must be noted that ?Old Chris??, according to some accounts, was attempting to find the side-door to the wealth of Asia. One that would avoid a long overland journey, or the trip around the tip of the Dark Continent! ?Well today (rather yesterday), we again celebrated Columbus? Brilliant Screw-up, some 511 year later!?

?But have you ever considered this??

Columbus? men were already taking mutiny long before Chris spotted the American Continent. They were ready to toss the Italian (Sailing under Spanish Colors) over the side, bag, baggage and pizza-pie too! And this, they were going to do long before he spotted the ?Statue of Liberty?, had it been there at the time of course?!

Actually, Columbus first landed at what he called San Salvador (Fernandez Bay, Bahamas), and to the day he ?Cashed In His Chips? in 1506, he firmly believed that he had discovered some island in the Indies, near China or Japan! ?Old Cristobal Colon (Columbus) was way the hell off target!!?

?So this brings me to the point of this nonsense!? (Look at your world map)

If Columbus? men were ready to dump him into the briny, and do a 180 degree somewhere in mid-Atlantic, what might have happened had they been forced to endure the entire voyage?

After making it to the mainland (America), they would have had to journey southward around South America, across the vast Pacific Ocean to the (so-called) Indies, and then back home of course, low in the water with loot! ?Many, many thousands of miles further than the point of that pending mutiny!?

?Aaarg, dear old Chris would have walked the plank, and been feeding the sea monsters, long afore he laid his ?Old Sea and Grog-Fogged Eyes? upon the riches of the Orient, or was able to suck down a little ?Sushi & Rice Wine?, me buckos!!?

?So what would have happened then?!? Alas, no Columbus day, that?s for sure, and all of those Federal employees sitting home right not, sucking in a plate of pasta (actually a Chinese contrivance), and nursing a bottle of ice-cold suds, would be screwed out of a day of drunken revelry (opinion)! LOL

Well thanks to some bad navigating, underestimating distances, and pure luck, Columbus made it to America, misnamed the natives Indians, and the rest is casino history!!
