John will be forever 19 years old. and not reconized on any monument because he did not die in country but he died just the same. Friends dieing means somthing to the parents and the friend(you). The rest of the world didn't even blink, sad but true.
I had a friend in High school (Doug) that went in the army the same time I did, he went to Gremany and I went to VN. He got killed in a jeep roll over. Strange how thing work. There was a small artical in the local paper that my mother sent me, Doug Sathoff died in an accident in Germany. Hay, to your friend. Ron |

Nov. 11, 1966, at Hill 35, Chu Lai, the 5th Marine Regiment held a traditional birthday. A cake was made, and the first two cut into the cake were by the oldest and youngest Marines present, then is was back to the war.

You really don't need to be referencing Doug Sathoff at all. You haven't exactly been the best friend to the Sathoff family, now have you? But then again, you don't admit that part of your life, do you?

Sorry for your loss. It's strange how things work out. One man goes to war, the other goes to "safe duty", and the unexpected happens - such is life.
I don't know who or what Tigernan is. I'd share this with you. My best friend from 5th grade through high school joined the army about 5 months before me. While I was still in AIT, he was with the 173rd and got killed (13 days in country). After the service I was never able to sit down and talk with his parents, who I knew very well. Guess it was a case of feeling guilty, I was alive, Jack was dead. Stay healthy, be well, Andy |

Tigernan is a flamer pretending to know something about you. Just another Internet coward.

Internet coward. Interesting.
He's my father. Divorced my mother. Quite disliked by the Sathoff family for a variety of reasons that he knows quite well. So I think it quite ludicrous that he would pretend to give shit one about Doug. Satisfied? |

So now we are suppose to take your word (a disgruntled son at best) over that of your fathers? What is it you are hoping to gain here by dragging your fathers name through the mud?
