Famous Last Words
'I am going fast now; I am resigned. God's will be done.' J.E.B. Stuart, Yellow Tavern (Alternatively recorded as 'I'd rather die than be whipped.' - Personally, the second sounds more accurate.)
'Let us pass over the river and rest under the shade of the trees.' Thomas J. Jackson, Chancellorsville 'Strike the tent.' Robert E. Lee 'They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance.' John Sedgwick, Spotsylvania

Actually thought about this quite a bit in Bitnam. Decided my last words would probably be " F @#@ ME I AM HIT." Didn't want my Mother to get wind of my last words so I made a guy in my platoon swear he would write my family and tell them my last words were " Tell my Mom I love her. " :re:

'This is too tight'. Henry Wirz (Hanged for war crimes).
'I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood.' John Brown, radical revolutionary. 'I am dying for freedom, I could not die for a better cause.' John Copeland Jr., hanged for treason. 'And now with my latest writing and utterance, and with what will be near my latest breath, I here repeat and would willingly proclaim my unmitigated hatred to Yankee rule--to all political, social and business connections with Yankees, and the perfidious, malignant and vile Yankee race.' --Edmund Ruffin, radical secessionist, in a final missive before committing suicide. Unattributed: 'Tell my father I died with my face to the enemy.' 'I ain't dead yet.' (Union soldier to Confederate scavengers after his gum blanket). 'I wish I had been a better boy. I have not been as good as I ought to have been.' 'Go on, boys -- and whip them!'
