Welcome Home
 In mid-1969 when I got back from RVN, I didn't get spit on. I didn't even have chicen blood thrown at me. No, much, much worse! The CURSE OF THE GOAT!My beloved Chicago Cubs were the best in baseball and had a 16 game lead over the New York Mets. Who cared what America thought about Vietnam? World Series here we come. Leo the Lip had 'em moving! As soon as I touched down at Travis my Cubbies began their descent as well, finally losing their lead to the the eventual world champions, the Miracle Mets. It couldn't have been a worse homecoming. But wait, wait 'til next year (2004), that is

Onesix you are correct 2004 is the year the Cubbies and Mariners go for the ring. and life will be as it should for evermore.

I had been praying GOD himself for 30 years to let the Cubs and Red Sox play one another in a Series IN my lifetime... and it nearly nearly nearLY came to pass last season...
I graduated 8th grade on the near northside in 1960... lived earlier down on 71st and Carpenter... DUTY FIRST
