In mid-1969 when I got back from RVN, I didn't get spit on. I didn't even have chicen blood thrown at me. No, much, much worse! The CURSE OF THE GOAT!
My beloved Chicago Cubs were the best in baseball and had a 16 game lead over the New York Mets. Who cared what America thought about Vietnam? World Series here we come. Leo the Lip had 'em moving! As soon as I touched down at Travis my Cubbies began their descent as well, finally losing their lead to the the eventual world champions, the Miracle Mets. It couldn't have been a worse homecoming. But wait, wait 'til next year (2004), that is
