As a birth mom recently reunited with my daughter; I would like to say thank you to all of you adoptive parents!

Mine was not a case of "I shouldnt be a parent" There were no drugs or alcohol involved. It was purely a case of young, stupid and financially incapable. I always loved my daughter and NEVER forgor nor turned my back on her. Later when I was married and had two more children I told each of them about their older sister. Whether she knew or not she was always a part of our family and we always knew that someday we would all be reunited. That reunion took place on her 18th birthday and was the single most terrifying moment of my life. I flew 8 hours, from one coast to the other, just to meet her. I had far too much alone time to think about what was coming up. I thought she would hate me and never want to see me ever again.
I am so fortunate and blessed to have her in my life again. She just recently made me a Gramma and when I held that little boy in my arms my life finally felt complete.
None of this would have been possible if her parents had not taken the course of life that they did. They always told Devon how special she was and how much I loved her. How heartbroken I was the day that I left the hospital without her in my arms. The doctor that delivered her watched her grow up and became her maternity doctor as well. He helped to reinforce the things her parents told her. They gave her my cards and letters when appropriate and even sent me pictures and cards through the years. I know it was not easy for them and I thank them every chance I get,
I'm not her mother but we still have a wonderfully close relationship that I will always cherish.

God bless you. Nothing has more alibis than the easy way out. To do the hard thing takes courage and that you obviously have.
