Update*** Coast Guard, partner agencies searching after responding to overturned vess
NEW YORK — The Coast Guard has ended the search for possible people in the water near Jones Beach Inlet, Friday.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound ended the search for possible people in the water after it was confirmed by family members that there was only one person aboard the overturned vessel near Jones Beach Inlet. Assets involved in the search include: -Coast Guard Station Jones Beach-Army National Guard Aviation-Freeport Fire Department-Hempstead Bay Constable-Nassau County Aviation-New York Fire Department-New York Police Department Aviation-Oyster Bay Police Department-Wantagh Fire DepartmentThe cause of the overturned vessel is under investigation.
