Default The "Confederate" Saber looks like..

a standard U.S. Pattern calvary saber. These things were made by many different private contractors for sale to the military. I don't think that any of them were made in National Armories. The Confederates copied them but just because it's not marked is not an indication that it is Confederate. The provenance will be in the family records. It could have been used by the Confederacy after being captured from the U.S. Army or it could have been bought from any one of the many firms who made them (They sold to both sides......just like the French)
